The Université d’été de Boulogne-sur-Mer is a DELF/DALF delocalised examination centre for the Pôle Universitaire Européen de Lille. The DELF-DALF exams organised by the Université d’été only take place in summer.
While participating in the Boulogne-sur-Mer Summer Programme, you may choose to take the DELF or DALF exam, which is generally held at the end of the course and is offered as an option.
You may also choose a specific option or course to prepare for the DELF/DALF exam. This course is organized primarily for students whose main goal is to earn a B1 or B2 certificate by taking the exams organized in the last week of class. These certificates can be quite useful when registering for classes at a French university.
Note about C1 and C2 certificates: the Summer Programme does not offer C1 and C2 certification exams in July and August.
An introduction to DELF / DALF certification
The DELF – Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française – and the DALF – Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française – are organised by the French government and provide the standard, official, internationally-recognised qualification in French in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The new DELF/DALF diplomas are :
Each diploma corresponds to an independent examination, composed of several papers. Once obtained, the diploma is acquired for life. The different DELF/DALF diplomas can therefore be prepared at various times.

The Boulogne-sur-Mer Summer Programme’s DELF preparation courses
The general courses will provide knowledge which will be useful for these in exams, however they do not purport to be specific exam preparation courses. The Université d’été’s teachers are happy to advise students, who so request, on the level choices which are best suited The Summer Programme offers two options for those would like to take an additional course to specifically prepare for the DELF exams :
Six hours of coursework in small groups for each DELF/DALF certificate level. Offered in addition to the basic training course, the six hours of this course are spread out throughout the duration of your stay. An instructor will advise you on the specific certificate level you are preparing, give you practice exercises based on previous exams, and guide you as you review for the exam. You will have the opportunity to practice, familiarize yourself with the exam, and receive advice to help you continue your reviewing on your own, if you so desire.
This course is organized primarily for students whose main goal is to earn a B1 or B2 certificate by taking the exams organized in the last week of class. B1 and B2 certificates indicate an independent level of French. These certificates may be required by institutions, businesses, and especially French universities, who require foreign students to submit their certificate as part of the registration process (each university has its own requirements, but the minimum level accepted is generally the B1 certificate). The classes (20 hours a week) exclusively focus on preparing the different sections of the exam. This specialized course thus helps students improve their French skills while preparing them to achieve their goal of successfully obtaining a B1 or B2 certificate.
The classes (20 hours a week) exclusively focus on preparing the different sections of the exam. This specialized course thus helps students improve their French skills while preparing them to achieve their goal of successfully obtaining a B1 or B2 certificate.
This specialized course will greatly contribute to your success, thanks to classes that focus specifically on the different sections of the exam, practice exercises based on previous exams, training exercises, and more. However, your success will also depend on your personal effort and the level of your French skills at the beginning of the course. Depending on the certificate you are aiming for, you must have an A2 or B1 level at the beginning of the course. A placement test given at the beginning of the course will indicate your skill level and evaluate your strengths and weaknesses for the exam. We strongly advise each participant to be sure (s)he has the minimum level required at the beginning of the course. Experienced instructors teach the courses and advise participants throughout the course as they review for the exam.
